Everyone knows that there are a million ways to use isopropyl alcohol in your everyday lives but we have just discovered some really great alternative reasons why you might want to keep an extra bottle of alcohol around in your home! From making DIY hand sanitizer to cleaning your own skin, alcohol might just be your next must-need item.

1. Deodorant

As alcohol kills bacteria, you can definitely have clean smelling pits even if you forget to have a deodorant supply around you. Simply wipe some on

2. Eliminate Bed Bugs

It can be so easy in this day and age to get bed bugs and so so impossibly hard to get rid of them. Luckily, one of the easier and cheaper ways to get them out of your home is through isopropyl alcohol. Take a spray bottle and spray alcohol on your bed, blankets, and pillows to get rid of these critters.

3. Get Rid of Lice

There’s a few reasons why you might have lice (or more importantly, your children), but alcohol can be a cure for this as well. Put it into a spray bottle and mix with lavender oil. Make sure to focus on your scalp as well as your hair. From there, comb through to get rid of any eggs and dead bugs.

4. Remove Nail Polish

There are a lot of nail polish removers out there but a lot of them are filled with various chemicals that might damage your nailbeds. Instead, use some cotton balls and alcohol to get rid of them and keep your nails healthy!

5. Clean Your Skin

Rubbing alcohol has a lot of great properties to keep your skin clean- it can be soothing and has anti-inflammatory properties that will be great for your skin! Use this instead of chemicals like benzoyl peroxide.

6. Make a Cool Pack

Alcohol doesn’t freeze so this is perfect if you need an ice pack. To prepare a slushy solution, use alcohol and water in a ratio of 1:2 and freeze it in a sealable pack.

7. Clean Your Ears

Herpes doesn’t have the stigma it used to have, especially since nearly 85% of people have a strain of some kind but if you’re one of those that break out occasionally, alcohol might work for you! Just rub some 70% isopropyl alcohol and in a couple of days it should be all clear!

10. Clean Glasses

If you’re a regular glasses wearer, it can be a pain to keep the lenses clean but alcohol will help clear it all up. Just spray a little alcohol and use a soft cloth to rub it clean.

11. Make a DIY Hand Sanitizer

If you’re interested in making hand sanitzer and avoiding chemicals in store-sold sanitzers, this one is for you! To make the sanitizer, mix 4 ounces of Aloe Vera gel with a few drops of tea tree oil and ½ tablespoon of isopropyl alcohol to make your own. Check out the video above as well!
