Animals are sweet and affectionate, and they never seem to run out of kisses. It is unimaginable to think of anyone throwing an animal away – no less a puppy – but that is exactly what happened. This poor pup was found in the trash on the day he was rescued.
The little puppy was a black Labrador retriever mix, and he could not have been more than ten weeks old. He was stuck in a dumpster, yelling for help but to no avail. Thankfully, a worker noticed the pup and came to his rescue.
The man, a maintenance worker employed in the area, followed the sounds to a rubbish bin. There the dog sat, crying from atop a bag of trash.
The man explained that the dog was stuck in the dumpster between CVS Pharmacy and O’Reilly Auto Parts. He concluded that there was “no way [the puppy] could get in or out by himself,” according to KTXL Sacramento. Someone must have abandoned the dog there.
The worker rescued the pup and brought him into the O’Reilly store, where he and others waited for animal rescue to arrive. El Dorado County Animal Services showed up, and they immediately agreed to take the dog in. Furthermore, they wanted to charge the pup’s previous owners with animal abandonment.
“That’s just a horrendous thing to do to an animal,” stated Chief Henry Brzezinki. “That’s why animal shelters exist. We’ll take animals in if people no longer want them. We work with people if they can’t afford an owner surrender fee. So there’s always a shelter around that’s going to work with somebody.”
The former owners have a lot to answer to, but at least everything worked out for the abandoned puppy. The shelter has assured us that as long as the puppy is healthy – which seems to be the case – he will be up for adoption in a few weeks. And it won’t take long for this adorable little guy to find a home.
Despite his tragic circumstances, the puppy seems to be coping extremely well. He is energetic, playful, and full of love. Whoever gets to adopt this dog will be one lucky owner.
With almost all the loose ends tied, police are still investigating who could have done such a horrible thing. Anyone with information about who could have thrown this puppy away is encouraged to call (530)621-5795.
At any rate, we are glad this pup is on the path to his happily ever after.
